Starving Creatives
Certainly, nothing worth having comes easy. You can’t sit around waiting for your wish to come true. As much as those Disney movies taught you, unfortunately, a handsome prince will not be coming to the rescue. In a world where it seems like your odds are against you, you are your only villain. Everyone is looking out for themselves. I’ve struggled and seen many others do the same. Life will chew you up and spit you out, however, there is still hope for those who can’t seem to grab onto their ropes like Indiana Jones.
In life you either find yourself taking a leap of faith or holding back until the right moment. Who is to say which one is right? We applaud those who take that jump with the uncertainty that they’ll land on their feet. We also see value in those who wait for the right moment. Either way, throughout our journey we all experience a plateau or even a mudslide of plans falling apart that take us down with them. Some of us know how to hit the ground running, meanwhile others seems to absorb every impact life could possibly throw at them.
The gap you go through to become who you need to be, initially, makes you who you are. The struggle makes you appreciate all the finer things once you have obtained them. In this age of many technological advances we are always in the shadows of what is to come next. Standing tall and with your head held high proceed forward and take risks. Those who take risks learn more than those who stay in their comfort zone.
If there is anything I’ve learned from being in the shadows it’s that you shouldn’t quit before a miracle happens. No matter how much you feel like you are failing, you are still one step higher than those who aren’t trying. When you find yourself stuck in a rut, it is natural to turn to the dark side and wallow in your pity. The words you use to bring yourself down won’t help to pick yourself back up. I’ve heard people say that being harsh on yourself will encourage you to be better than the person you are now. I find it better to recognize that you are doing your best given your situation and pride yourself of any accomplishments you have made.
I guess what I am trying to say here is that everyone goes through a moment in their lives where they need some re-adjusting. The story that comes out of the hard times will be worth sharing. So work if you need the money, try harder when you want to give up, and create art when your world seems dull. There are no free handouts. This world is full of starving creatives and If you aren’t giving you’re all, surely you’ll fall behind.
Wishing you the best,
Enrike
